I was a teenager in 1950 and I remember when double- deck buses still drove through Washington Square Park and kids had roller skates clipped/strapped onto their shoes. Other than the changed lampposts, clothing styles and the more hopeful innocent social relationships, things have not changed that much. The arch, the buildings and chess players are still the same.
