About 20 years ago I asked my son and daughter to model for this painting. We rented a horse and sleigh in Connecticut. They dressed up in Victorian costumes and were photographed sitting in the sleigh in various poses. We shot in the daytime, sun shining, not nighttime. This cover called for a night scene. I used the art of one of the great American illustrators, Frederick Remington, who was a master at painting night scenes to get the color of night.
