This painting is about the plight of artists unable to afford to live and work in NYC, because their studio/ lofts were being converted into expensive real estate. Every time artists establish an area of the city, this repeatedly occurs. In my painting, the man carrying a painting, Costa Vavagiakis, was my former student, today a wonderful, important artist. /teacher. The cellist, was a member of the New York Philharmonic and my wife, in the red jacket, is a beautiful sculptor.
