Textures are fun to paint, as was this shiny blue Victorian dress. Skin tones and hair also become a virtuous painting exercise. Sometimes impossible poses are taken, like this heroine sitting on the edge of this fountain in this Parisian exhibition pavilion of 1850, but artistic license was taken here.
