In order to capture the breadth and space of these 19th Century type novels an immense feeling of a grand landscape is required.

It would have better served the feeling of the book if Bantam had printed the full painting instead of cropping it. Also the trees, sky and the Indian palace in the background would have been better balanced. A richer feeling of depth could have been achieved if the printing had not been so washed out. Notice that I used much of the same reference here as I did in "God Is An Englishman" for the garden.
